The 2010 Annual Meeting was held Tuesday, March 30th with approximately 60 people in attendance.  We started the evening off with great food from our potluck, and then the meeting started in full swing!  The 43rd Street Block Club and the West End Neighborhood Association were honored, and Rev. Dr. Mark Bayert (deceased) was inducted into the CCC Hall of Fame.  Long-time CCC supporter Rick Kitterman presented this award, and Rev. Bayert's daughter accepted on his behalf.  Voting took place for Board of Director seats, and the following people were voted into this group: Andy Boswell, Arthur Gillen, Marlon Kelley, David Levin, Carla McGreevey, Kolbi Reeder, and Heather Schmidt.  Thanks to everyone who participated in this yearly event!

Our Annual Meeting & Board elections will be this Tuesday, March 30th, Broadway Presbyterian Church.  If you can't join us for the 6:00 pot luck, we hope you'll at least drop by after 7 to let us know what you think our goals & priorities should be this coming year.  What's working in your neighborhood?  Share ! What isn't?  Get some answers from us and city officials who'll be on hand.  Our potluck starts at 6 (we provide the entree - you bring a dish to pass), the meeting will start at 7:00, and we should all be on our way before 8:30.  Hope to see you -- and thanks for your support.

Police Chief John Wright says "serious" crime is down 12 percent from '08 to '09.  This covers murder*, manslaughter, sexual assault*, robbery*, aggravated assault*, burglary, theft and arson.  Those words with astericks are considered "violent crimes".  The Chief says "citizen involvement" is the key to keeping crime down.  "Please call us," he said.  "The police department alone cannot be with sole solution."  This is one of several years where crime is down and the Chief credits CCC with helping keep citizens involved.

The biggest complaints CCC hears about have to do with irresponsible neighbors: they're noisy or let their animals run loose.  Number three is "the car that doesn't move".  Vehicles on the street have to move every 3 days and those on private property every 7 days.  Vehicles must have current registration, if parked in a yard they must be on an improved surface (concrete or gravel), and they must be operable.  Anything less, they are then susceptible to being marked and towed.  Even if they're behind a fence and can't be seen, they can be marked and towed.  Call the police at 732-2677 and let CCC know the progress.
