A CCC Success Story
Some Greenbush residents have been unhappy for 2 years. There’s been too much noise, too late at night by Augustana students taking a MetroLink bus to and from the downtown District 3 nights a week. Finally, a meeting was held at Augie
with MetroLink, Augie and student reps, Rock Island police, and 2 residents, all led by Councilwoman Joy Murphy. After much discussion, a consensus was reached. MetroLink is precluded by law from doing certain things . . . but if Augustana “says” this is so, then it becomes the “rule”. Augie will put out a mass email with a map (provided by MetroLink) notifying students to aim for specific pick-up points. It’s the pick-up points that have caused the problems, with students congregating in large groups late at night. The previous points were convenient for the students, but
INconvenient for the neighbors. The new pick-up points - if adhered to by the students - takes the noise away from most residents. Augie will put out this email twice each year . . . and post the maps. Again, it is understood that the drop-off points won’t and can’t change.
