Project Thrive is CCC's commitment to educating people to alleviate poverty in Rock Island County. What a better way to do that than by providing opportunities for people to earn an income!
CCC worked with the Put Illinois To Work program (June through November) to provide temporary jobs for low income parents. These employees worked as Summer Club assistants, childcare providers, summer lunch program workers, and were welcomed hands around the CCC office.
As a member of the Illinois Poverty Commission and a partner of Heartland Alliance, CCC has a wealth of information to share with the community regarding poverty in our area.
The poverty rate in 2009 was 9.3%. It declined from 11.1 in 2008.
The number of children in Rock Island County who lived in poverty in 2009 was 4262, down from 6167 in 2008.
For questions on poverty statistics, concerns, or to provide support for Project Thrive, please contact Angela Richardson or Connie Hayes at CCC, 786-0345.
