Kudos to the 28th and 29th Avenue homeowners between 38th and 45th Streets, setting a new record for first-time Block Club attendees - 46! They were concerned aabout speeders (officers will use a sentry first before setting any adar traps), alarm systems, street lights, the recent spat of burglaries, and how the burglars operate, door-to-door salesmen, gun laws, Neighborhood Watch and the future structure of the Club. Officers M. Mendoza and Bud Gillman, and Lt. T.T. Landi attended.
36th Street/15th Avenue group met in September at the 15th Avenue Christian Church reporting that they'd had a relatively quiet summer, except for a few noisy neighbors. Door-to-door soliciting is up. They're concerned about a semi-truck parking in the old Ace Hardware lot. Officer Chris Sloan answered questions.
12th Street/20th Avenue neighbors are happy about a drug house problem being resolved, but believe there are still too many "high grass" properties. They reported a sink hole problem on 12th Street to Adlerman Foley. Police Officer Rick Robinson took notes about loud vehicles as to when and where. He also answered questiions about drug dealers with bikes and cell phones.
Broadway held a potluck last month at Broadway Presbyterian Church with about 28 adults and kids attending. They talked with Police Officer Brian Manecke about daytime break-ins, car break-ins, and crimiinal damage to property. They also heard Broadway has fewer problems than other areas.
CCC participated in both the Greenbush and East End Fairs last September, providing Child ID registration cards to some 80 families.
