Rock Island's crime rate year to date is down when compared to last year. Last year's rate was lower than previous years. I would ask citizens not to get complacent by the seemingly positive news since these are only numbers. Behind every number is a victim.
While the holiday season may seem like it is a ways off, please be vigilant by locking car doors, placing valuables out of plain sight or locked in the trunk, etc. The more we follow safe practices, the better chance we have reducing crime victims.
