This year's event is different in several ways. First, because Tues. the 4th is the first full day of school in R.I., we thought we'd have a better turnout on Mon. the 3rd. Second, in addition to coming by for a quick bite (free food & drink) and to say "Hello," we're asking you to sit out for awhile with neighbors on Tues. night the 4th, THE National Night Out. Those from a particular Block Club who come to Longview Park (upper shelter) from 4 - 7 on Mon. the 3rd...and sign a pledge letter to sit out...will recieve free pizzas for Tues. night's dinner ! Third, we'll have special door prizes (baskets of goodies). We'll also have the usual free light-bulb giveaway so you can keep your porch lights on EVERY night of the year from dusk to dawn. As you probably know, that costs you about $2 extra per month: CHEAP security !
Remember, criminals love the dark and you'll also want to cut back your bushes so burglars can't easily hide while they're trying to open a window. The Taser & Dog teams from the Police Dept. will perform and your kids can tour the safety vehicles. The Mayor and other city officials will be on-hand to meet & greet. Turnout in the past hasn't always been the best. Perhaps folks believe they know everything they need to know. We need a show of solidarity and it would be a big help to us at CCC if you could make a little time for us next Monday night. Thanks !
