Rock Island Housing Authority Hosts Community Meetings
Rock Island Housing Authority (RIHA) is applying for approximately $52M stimulus monies that will allow the agency to redevelop each of its properties including:
Spencer Towers: A high-rise in downtown Rock Island housing elderly and non-elderly persons with disabilities. Spencer Towers is proposed for redevelopment and will be reconfigured into a 132 unit mixed-income development designed to accommodate active adults.
Lincoln Homes: A family site located in Old Chicago. Lincoln Homes will be demolished and replaced with 28 mixed-income family housing.
Manor Homes: A family site located on 7th Street. Manor Homes will be demolished and replaced with 70 units of mixed-income family housing.
Now Vacant Valley Homes Site: A family site demolished in 2005. The former Valley Homes site will be redeveloped to include 21 mixed-income for-sale single family homes.
Special Needs Complex: The 70-unit complex is designated for individuals and families containing at least one household member with a disability. The units will be affordable, offer independence, accessibility, and provide the supportive services necessary for resident success.
In-Fill HousingousingH: The new low-density rental units and 15 single-family in-fill homes will be used to facilitate the phased demolition and replacement of other RIHA redevelopment activities.
RIHA will be hosting community meetings about these projects on
Friday July 17 at 4:30 pm and Tuesday and
Thursday, July 21st and 23rd at 5:30 pm at 227 – 21st Street
Comments regarding these projects will be received until August 2, 2009
